Material Solutions. Wrap it Like a Girl

In July, Material Solutions organised our first edition of the Wrap it Like a Girl, an event for women to upskill themselves in the wrapping vehicles techniques. We opened a registration for the event for all customers. We had women from all over the country participate in this event. On behalf of Avery Dennison, the certified trainer, Mark from Elite Wraps, trained the girls with the best car wrapping techniques for the digital cast and colour change vinyl.

For two days, Mark went through various topics, including tools and equipment, application techniques, products, and aftercare. Before starting to practice, the girls received a briefing on the basics, including the use of squeegees, surface cleaners and film positioning.

To get the girls used to handling the equipment, Mark had them participate in multiple practical exercises. First, they were asked to cut vinyl that lay over a sheet to make sure they were aware of the pressure to add. Once they were comfortable with this, they moved on to applying the vinyl to the car and using the heat guns. This is where Mark taught them the application techniques regarding the surface area and shape of the car. Overall, the girls did very well and applied the Wrap very well.

Upon completion of this event, the girls received a training certificate of participation and a goody bag of essential equipment and tools. The ladies thoroughly enjoyed the training and participated enthusiastically. We asked them what they thought about the experience, and here is what they had to say.
